Cemeteries - K of P Cemetery - Caretakers and Board of Directors

The Lizton K. of P. Cemetery Association was organized on January 21, 1907 with a ten member Board of Directors consisting of Marion Bailey (President), George M. Thompson (Treasurer), Conley Spangler (Secretary), James T. Leak (Superintendent), John B. Duzan, John A. Leak, Douglas Hall, J. M. Dowden, Alfred E. Deatley and Morton Foxworthy. This virtual cemetery includes those organizers, their successors on the Board of Directors and those who helped maintain the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Lizton. Although most of the post-1906 burials of Union Township residents have been in the K. of P. Cemetery, some are buried in nearby cemeteries including the Sparks Cemetery near Pittsboro, the Fairview Cemetery in North Salem, the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Jamestown and the Old Union Cemetery in southern Boone County.
