Hi Lillie,

The Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) lists Mr Hohenstein's first name and middle initial as "Edward A." They do not agree with your listing. His obituary agrees with you, as does his father's obituary. Therefore, I believe the DVA listing is incorrect.

If you are a relative, I recommend calling the cemetery and have have his listing corrected. (217)492-4070

Here's his listing from the DVA website:

DATE OF BIRTH: 12/04/1918
DATE OF DEATH: 04/11/2013
(217) 492-4070

Have another great day,
Ed Ross
As per the above message by Ed Ross, yes, the VA lists him as Edward A Hohenstein. That's the way he was registered when he enlisted in the Army, even though he told them that was not his name. He never could get them to change it. When his wife passed away in 1994, the original tombstone read "Edward A Hohenstein." After he passed away in 2013, his daughter was finally able to get a new tombstone erected with the correct name after submitting documentation with his correct name. However, as far as I've been able to discern, they refuse to change the official records.
