She was born March 14, 1930 in Henderson. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church for over 50 years. She graduated from Hebbardsville High School in 1948 and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Evansville. She retired in 1993 from Deaconess Hospital after 42 years as a registered nurse and instructor at the Deaconess School of Nursing. In 1997 she received her 45 year pin from the American Red Cross for her volunteer work in Disaster Health Services in Evansville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Douglas W. Allgood and her parents, John D. and Sallie E. Poole.

Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home and from 9:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at Zion Baptist Church, Henderson, KY.
