Lila Stone Buckaloo Appelt, age 89, died on March 14 in her home in Three Rivers. She was born on July 4, 1919 to Mack Thurston Buckaloo and Christine Rogers Buckaloo in Three Rivers. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor College and received her degree from the University of Texas. Lila married Osborne West Appelt on December 28, 1943. They operated a propane dealership and raised their family in Three Rivers. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and a board member of the First State Bank for many years. She was active in civic projects through her Study Club membership and enjoyed her bridge club group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brother, M. T. Buckaloo, Jr.

She is survived by two sons, William O. (Donna) Appelt of Three Rivers and James M. (Janice) Appelt of Houston; three step-grandchildren and a niece.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 18 from 6-9 p.m. at Galloway and Sons Chapel in Three Rivers. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at the Three Rivers Cemetery.
