Trueman was the daughter of Beulah Ione Massey and Charles Spurgeon Bussey. Her sisters were Laura Belle Bussey, the wife of Marion Snider (V.O.'s "left handed" piano player), and Mary Lee Bussey.

Trueman was the (2nd) wife of Virgil Oliver "V.O." Stamps, founder of the Stamps Quartet. She was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Stamps, Baxter Music Company of Dallas, Texas. After V.O.'s death, Trueman married Herschell H. Pankey.
