Wallace Ronald Blount, age 76, a retired Lieutenant Deputy Sheriff, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011, at his home in Monticello.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Monticello, 325 W. Washington Street, Monticello, Florida 32344, at 11:00 a.m.


Interment will follow the service at Broomsage cemetery. Wallace was a native of Gadsden County and has lived in Monticello since 1964.

He was well-known for his work in law enforcement. He has been employed with the Florida Highway Patrol, Monticello Police Department, U.S. Marshall service and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. He was a Mason and Eastern Star member. Wallace was a member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello and an ordained deacon.

He loved his pets Ellie and Tiger (Little Punkin) and grand pets Max and Bella.

Wallace is survived by his wife Betty Jo Tindell Blount; one son Ronald Craig Blount, both of Monticello; Craig's (fiancée) Julie Queen of Tallahassee; one daughter Renee (Mark) Prasek and one granddaughter Shelby Prasek of Tallahassee; one sister Wanda Blount Darsey; one brother-in-law Lamar Massey and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wallace was preceded in death by parents Willis E. and Louise E. Blount; one sister Hilda Blount Massey.
