Frankfort Ky. where her family grew up it seems.
John S. Marshall & Mary J. were her parents.
notes appear to list ''Swain'' as her fathers' middle name born around 1841 [in Henry Co.?], her mother about 1845 in Missouri. Census lists her older brothers as Walter R. '69-, Wiley C. a local Ky. Lawyer 1872 - 1962, sisters Annie W. '74 - , Eliza R., Emma '82-, Stanley '84, Humphrey '91-
1962 Obituary of brother Wiley lists as surviving were brothers; Stanley of Frankfort, Humphrey of Indianapolis, & 4 sisters; Mrs. Emma Dawson of Versillales ?,Mary Armstrong, R.G.Richardson of D.C,& Fannie Phillips of Ky.
Mary married Arthur Armstrong [Butler Ky] and moved to Washington D.C. as he worked at the Govt. Printing Office. They lived at 716 3rd St. N.E. and raised their daughter Marion. I believe there was a separation after Marion was herself married. All lived in and around D.C. throughout their lives where Marion raised a large family. She, Arthur, Marion, her husband and Mary's eldest 2 grandchildren are buried together here at Columbia Gardens.
