Rebecca Strickland Akins -MACON - Rebecca Strickland Akins, of Macon, Georgia went to her heavenly home Monday, August 29, 2005. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at 10A.M. in the Cross Keys United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Robert Poston will officiate. -Visitation: 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday in Hart's Mortuary. -Born in Tattnall County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Cavasso Strickland and Matilda Caroline Thomas Strickland, the widow of Charles J. Akins Sr. and predeceased by her grandson, Shawn Leighton Akins, Sr. She was a member of the Cross Keys United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was involved in the Joy Sunday school class, the United Methodist Women, and a volunteer with the East Macon Food Bank. -She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Charles and Teresa M. Akins Jr. of Macon, Ga; grandchildren, Rebecca Christina Akins Wallis(Mike) of Macon, Walter Huellemeier of Macon, Erin H. White (Joseph) of Macon.; granddaughter-in-law, Mitzi Akins of Gray; great grandchildren, Heather Paige Wallis, Shawn Leighton Akins Jr., Michael Charles Akins, Joseph McKee White V, Neice, Linda S. Witt and grandniece, Kandace Karcher, both of California. -In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the East Macon Food Bank, c/o Cross Keys United Methodist Church.,1825 Jeffersonville Road, Macon, Ga. 31217. -"Well done good and faithful servant" Mathew 25:21 -Hart's Mortuary has charge of arrangements.
