She graduated from Angelo State University and received her masters degree from Sul Ross State University. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mackey and Dorothy Weaver of Melvin; and her brother, Jack Weaver of Menard. She is survived by her husband, companion and best friend of 49 years, Jerry Baird, of Snyder. Besides being blessed with her five Weaver sisters, she also had kindred sisters in her Beta Sigma Phi Sorority holding every office and "Girl of the Year" five times, where she spent many memorable years, building precious and unbreakable relationships. Although Mickey was never blessed with her own children, she raised many. Her legacy will live on in the many young lives she touched, mentored and loved. She was a teacher and coach for many years in public schools throughout Texas before coming to Snyder in 1972, as the college's first women's tennis coach, cheerleading sponsor and ultimately, the director of student activities at Western Texas College. She held that position at the college until her retirement in 1997. Mickey will be remembered by many of her students as "Mrs. Baird ". She never met a kid she didn't love and always had a kind word and a hug for each and every one that passed through the doors of the WTC Student Union Building.
