Gladys Marie Coleman Meriweather, 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 20, 2008. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 25, at Lewis Funeral Home, located at 811 S. W.W. White St. in San Antonio. Services are set for 12 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in Bryan with the Rev. Charles Jefferson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Bryan.
Gladys was born on May 12, 1925, in Millican, Texas, to T.J. Sr. and Aubria Washington Coleman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Meriweather Sr.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Hilda Shivers and Robert Penn of San Antonio and Sherryl J. Shivers of Los Angeles; son, Ernest E. Meriweather Jr. of Bryan; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Vernal Coleman and Frank Hondras of Chicago and Pearline Coleman and John Walker of Las Vegas; aunt, Kathryn Washington Bell of Chicago; uncle, Ben Washington and wife, Addie, of Houston; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
