MARQUETTE - Raymond A. Burch, 73, of 340 W. Main St., Harvey, died at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Fla., where he had been living for the winter. He had an apparent heart attack following a lengthly illness.

Born Jan. 1, 1912, in Marquette, he had been a lifelong resident. he was a member of St. Louis the King Catholic Church in Harvey. He had been a corrections officer at Marquette State Prison for 19 years prior to his retirement. He had also been in the Merchant Marine for seven years, was a cook in the Marquette area for some time, and had worked at the Northland Hotel.

Surviving are his wife, Cora; two daughters, Mary Paler of Escanaba and Mrs. Robert and Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Nesbitt of Marquette; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Janet) Robare of Antioch, Ill., and Mrs. John (Julie) Pizzuro of Lodi, N.J.; a brother, Edward of Marquette; 10 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Rose Ryan, died in 1979 and a sister, Florence Balwinski died in November of 1984.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Lawrence Gauthier, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Northland Chapel Garden.

Friends can call at St. Louis the King Catholic Church beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
