Born Sept. 24, 1915 in Noxon, Montana, passed away April 6, 2000. We have lost our Matriarch. Frances was the owner-operator of the Blockhouse Restaurant in Midway for 49 years from 1944-1993. Frances is survived by husband, Ralph L. Shook, of Federal Way; one sister, Esther Tharge, of Puyallup; one daughter, Marilyn (Ronald L.) Mettler, of Federal Way; one step-daughter, Mildred Ann (companion, Daniel Hatfield) Hanson, of Portland, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Jennie Joers; three grandchildren, Cynthia Myers, Andrea Mettler and Peter Paul Joers; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Daylee and Jaedyn. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Melvin Joers; son, Ronald Paul Joers; two brothers, and one sister. Viewing will be April 10 from 11am to 8pm at Bonney-Watson Federal Way Funeral Home, 1535 S.W. Dash Point Road. Funeral services will be April 11 at 11:00am at Des Moines United Methodist Church, 22225 9th Ave So., Des Moines, WA. Burial will be held at Tacoma Cemetery, 9212 Chambers Creek Rd. W. Frances was past President and hospital advisor of the Des Moines/Zenith Children's Orthopedic Guild. She was also a member of the Des Moines/Zenith Garden Club and Lorraine Rebekah Lodge #305, Des Moines, WA. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials be made to Children's Hospital Foundation, Des Moines Auxiliary, P.O. Box 5371 MS CH-23, Seattle, WA 98105-0371.
