Elizabeth ?Beth? Hayden, 87, of Stevensville, passed away Monday, February 9, 2004 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens, Coloma. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association. Mrs. Hayden was born March 19, 1916 in Scottville, Michigan to Clinton & Belle (Hardenbrook) Parker. On July 23,1955, she married Harold Hayden in Angola, Indiana. Beth was employed as a secretary for Whirlpool, retiring after 32 years of employment. She was the head of the Secretary?s Association, and many times received an award for the Secretary of the Year. She and her husband were volunteers at Lakeland Hospital when it was known as Memorial & mercy-Memorial Hospital, working in the gift shop & coffee shop. Beth was the secretary for the volunteer association. She especially enjoyed flower gardening.


Mrs. Hayden is survived by her son-George (Diane) Parker of Stevensville; three grandchildren-Rhonda (Dave) Russell, Janice (Michael) Coleman, Neil (Melissa) Parker; seven great-grandchildren-Heather & Bryan Russell, Brandon Hartman, Roger & Danielle Jones, MyKayla Coleman, Isabella Parker; three sisters-Joyce (Alex) Keil of Watervliet, Lois Johnson of Benton Harbor, Iva (Clinton) Buskirk of Lawrence; and a brother-Ted (Babe) Parker of St. Joseph. Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harold on October 18, 1987; two brothers-Chet & Harmon Parker; and a sister-Dora Fiedler.
