Chester Joseph Acker, Funeral services for Chester Joseph Acker, 89, of New Cumberland, will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, Third and Bridge streets, New Cumberland.
He died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001 at home.
Born Oct. 16, 1912 in Tyler, Texas, he was a son of the late Arthur Chester and Effie Elizabeth Roemer Acker and the widower of Helen Marie (Golden) Acker.
He was a retired agent for Howard Hanna-Detweiler Realty, Camp Hill, where he was awarded a lifetime membership in the President's Club for his productivity. Upon his retirement in 1999, he was one of the Harrisburg area's oldest active realtors.

A former agricultural engineer with the former Louden Machinery Co. in Iowa, he designed dairy barns and was involved in the nation's first solar heated poultry houses for Penn State University.

He was a graduate of Albany, N.Y. High School and was a former Boy Scout leader.

He was a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland where he was a former Sunday school teacher and youth fellowship coordinator for nearly 40 years; West Shore Lodge 681, F&AM, Camp Hill; Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg; West Shore Rotary Club, where he was instrumental in the development of its Girls Leadership Conference; and the National Society of Agricultural Engineers.
Mr. Acker is survived by four daughters, Marilyn N. Frantz of New Cumberland, Carolyn L. Fry of Sun City Center, Fla., Sherri M. Harmon of York Haven and Lori Angela Paneboeuf of Laurel, Md.; a sister, Dorothy M. Sagendorf of Venice, Fla; two brothers, Harold K. of Albany, N.Y. and Donald T. Acker of Bonita Springs, Fla.; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Robert A. Graybill will officiate at services. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Township.

Friends may call Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, is handling arrangements.
