Teresea Caroline "Carrie" Updike was the daughter of Eden & Keziah (Potts) Updike.

She married George H. Chorjel on 16 Aug 1866 in Muskingum Co., OH. They had at least three children, all boys, and all born in OH:

- George E. Chorjel (1868-1930)
- Joseph Mason Chorjel (1871-1945)
- Pearl Elisha Chorjel (1876-1929)

OBITUARY
Mrs. Carrie Chorjel, aged 78, one of the best known and most popular residents of Philo, died of paralysis at 10:30 o'clock Monday, after an illness of only two weeks. She had lived in the Philo neighborhood all her life*, and leaves a large circle of friends who will regret to hear the news of her death. She is survived by three sons, Joseph and Pearl of Philo, and George.

The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the home of her son. Pearl. Rev. Mr. Sollers officiating, and the interment will be made in Duncan Falls cemetery.

*My note: This is incorrect. She was born in Virginia, and moved to Morgan Co., OH sometime before 1850 and lived there at least until 1880. By the 1900 census, she was living in Harrison Twp., Muskingum Co., OH.
