J.A. "Grandpa" Amos, age 83, of Battle Ground, died at his residence at 8:55 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2009. Born November 20, 1925 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Manson and Marie (Spaulding) Amos. He had previously lived in Crawfordsville and West Point. His marriage was to Helen Neal on May 30, 1952 and she preceded him in death on May 20, 1989. Mr. Amos was a signalman for Monon and CSX Railroads for over 40 years, retiring in 1988. He served in the Navy in WWII from 1941 to 1945. He enjoyed woodworking, playing video games, crossword puzzles, and watching his grandchildren play sports.
Surviving are three daughters, Faithe Robins (husband, Peter) of Leicester, NC, Barbara Holycross (husband, Chuck) of Seguin, TX, and Pat McClure (husband, Jerry) of Attica; a sister, Alice Amos of West Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Kristi Spencer (husband, James), Tim Golladay, Doug Golladay (wife: Debbie), Pat Golladay (wife: Johnna), Mike Hesler, Tammi Hesler, and Kelly Cooper (husband: Jeff); and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister, and one grandson.
