Hazel MICHAELS-BARNARD, 98, 2498 Mulberry Ave., died Friday at Muscatine General Hospital. A private prayer graveside service will be Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. William Runaas Jr. of Grettenger, Iowa will officiate.
The former Hazel MICHAELS was born May 17, 1890 in Horton, Kan., to Willoughby Otwell and Sarah Ellen MORRISON-MICHAELS. She had lived in Muscatine for most of her life. Her marriage to Glen F. BARNARD took place June 20, 1912 in Kansas City, Mo.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church were she was a former Sunday school teacher and a member of the Esther Circle. She and her husband had operated the former BARNARD Jewelry Store for many years.
Survivors include a son, Robert M. of Green Valley, Ariz.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1961, one son, one great-grandchild and two brothers.
