Roger Akins, age 63 of Sulligent, passed away Sunday at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 2:00pm from Beaverton Freewill Baptist Church where the body will lie in state from 11:00 am until service time at 2:00pm. Burial will be in Sizemore Memorial Cemetery. Bro. Kelvin Price will be officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6-9pm
Pallbearers will be; David Akins, Alan Akins, Cory Akins, Trae Trentham, Michael Fowler and David Cunningham.
Mr. Akins was born October 8, 1948 in Tuscaloosa, Al to the late Clarence and Pearl Estelle Akins. He was a graduate of Pickens County High School. Roger previously worked at Detroit Slacks and Alan White Furniture in Shannon, MS. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of Beaverton Freewill Baptist Church.
