Margaret Hurst Britt, 72, of Savannah, died Thursday, December 29, 2005 at Hospice Savannah, Inc., surrounded by her loving family.

She was the daughter of the late Enoch H. Hurst, Jr., and Gladys Clark Orendorff, and step-daughter of the late, Jacob P. Orendorff, Sr.

She was born in Savannah, Ga., and was retired from the U.S. Marshall's Service, having served as a Deputy U.S. Marshall, for over 35 years. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and taught English as a 2nd language there. She was a member of the Silver Nuggets, and served on the Wednesday Night Supper Team. She was a former member of the Ardsley Park Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher of the Chinese Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her husband, Carl L. Britt of Savannah, GA; a son, Michael A. Britt of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; stepsons and daughter in laws, David C. and Rev. Jennifer Britt of Savannah, GA and Grady B. and Susan M. Britt, of Watkinsville, GA; a stepdaughter, Theresa B. Mock of Sylvania, GA; brothers , Jacob P. Orendorff, Jr. and Marie M. Orendorff of Savannah, GA and Enoch H. Hurst, III., of Ocala, FL; sisters Lana Orendorff Brown and Donald A. Brown, Sr., of Newberry, SC; Patricia W. Hurst, of Virginia; six grandchildren, Rachel L. Britt, D.Carson Britt, Daniel M. Britt, Rebecca C. Britt; Madelyn R. Mock, and Deanna T. Mock, and nieces, Marsha D. Haupt and Ozella D. George, and nephews, Donnie A. Brown, Jr., and Jacob H. Brown.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Williams, Dr. J. Calvin Webb, and Rev. Jennifer B. Britt, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be: Chuck Sprinkle, Tommy Clark, Gary Clark, Donnie Brown, Jacob Brown and Kevin Holton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Joseph Wong, and members of the Chinese Sunday School Class of Ardsley Park Baptist Church.
