John Philip Maas, born in Elsheim Gleis Binger Hessen Darmstadt, Germany. -- Friends and acquaintances we have the sad news that our dearly beloved husband, father, and grandfather, John Philip Maas, passed away peacefully at 4:00 on Friday, June 16, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 18 days, after a difficult illness. John P. Maas was a United States Civil War soldier in Company D, 12th Regiment from 11 Oct. 1864 to 16th July, 1865.
The burial will take place on Monday, June 19 at 8:30 in the morning from the mourning residence, No. 1911 Cold Spring Avenue, from there to St. Michael's Church, and from there to Union Cemetery.
Personal condolences are requested for the mourning bereaved: Wilhelmina (Haack) Maas, wife; along with children, Margaret, Catherine, Frances, Elizabeth, Philip, Bernhard, and Theresa; also step children; Adolf, Emil, Herman, Bertha, Emilie, Mathilde and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Katharine (Weigant) Maas, daughter Mary (Maas) Harvey, son Herman Maas, and grandson Richard Jr. Harvey.
