ABERDEEN – E.O. Fike Jr., 83, died Aug. 27, 2003, at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Aberdeen. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is today from 12:30 to time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Fike was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Townley, Ala., to Elbert Osroe and Nellie Hendon Fike . He graduated high school in Birmingham, Ala. He lived most of his life in Aberdeen. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. He was an honorary lifetime member of the Mississippi Agriculture Aviation Association and was named the operator of the year in 1980. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an aerial applicator and a civilian instructor at the Columbus Air Force Base.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Fike .
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Hannah Fike of Aberdeen; daughters, Kay Jones of Columbus and Sue Howell of Aberdeen; brother, Ray Fike of Montgomery, Ala. and one granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the children and youth programs at First United Methodist Church of Aberdeen or to the donor's favorite charity.
