A native of Caswell County, she was the wife of the late Richard D. Hardie and the daughter of John Thomas Scott and Zula Wright Scott, both deceased. Helen retired from AT&T and loved gardening, painting and spending time with her family. She was a member of New Covenant Fellowship Church.
Survivors include her son, Rickey L. Hardie of Swepsonville; three grandchildren, Melissa Harrelson and husband Jacob of Snow Camp, Johnathan Hardie and wife Amanda of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Emily Moran of Kannapolis; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Nelson Harrelson and Matilda Moran; one sister, Mildred Robertson and husband Harold of Burlington; one brother, Robert L. Scott of Elon; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Scott of Roanoke, Va.; special nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Carlton Hardie and Randy Hardie; two sisters, Irma White and Ruth Ingram; and three brothers, Harry T. Scott, Dwight H. Scott and Irvin Scott.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. David Neff with the family receiving friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.
At other times, the family will be at the residence.
