Emil William Beig was born Oct. 15, 1893 in Odebolt, Sac County Iowa. He was the son of Matthias Beig and Mary Brockman Beig (both of his parents were born in Bavara, Germany.) Matthias was born in Dec. 1859 and came to the USA in 1883. Mary was born Nov 1869 and came to the USA in 1884. Matthias and Mary originally lived near Odebolt, Sac County, Iowa, where they engaged in farming. They moved to a farm between Hartington and Coleridge, Cedar County, Nebraska in 1900. Emil was 6 years old. Emil was a veteran of World War I. He married Lena Petersen on Nov 16,1926 in Yankton, So Dak. They were married by Rev Rehwaldt from the Evangelical Lutheran Church. They had two children Robert L Beig born on Aug 8, 1927 and Darlene E Beig born on July 12, 1941, both children were born in Hartington. Emil Beig was a farmer for many years in Cedar County. In the 1940 Federal census he is listed as a trucker at an oil station. In 1951 Emil and his family moved to Hastings, Ne. He and and his son Bob were employed by the US Department of Defense and worked at the Hastings Bomb Depot. Emil's social security number was 506-14-8289. They moved to California in 1956, their daughter Darlene was 15 years old, at the time. At the time of Leana's death they lived in Maywood, Calif. Lena's cause of death was cancer. Both Emil and Lena died in California. Lena died on May 1, 1962; her body was returned to Hartington, services were held the following Monday at 2:00 pm May 7, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church; the Smith-Richendifer Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements, she is buried in the Hartington Cemetery in Hartington, NE. Emil married again on July 12, 1963 to Cordelia Clyse (maiden name Warren). Cordelia's first husband Harold G Clyse had died March 6, 1958 and was buried in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, Rancho Palos Verdes in Los Angles County. Cordelia work as a manager prior to and after her married to Emil. Emil worked at the Select Uniform Linen Co as a janitor. Emil and Cordelia lived at 9316 Walnut Street.
Emil suffered a heart attack on Sep. 25, 1965, during the marriage of his step daughter Elaine Clyse. He was taken to St Helen's Hospital at 9542 E. Artesia Blvd. in Bellflower , where he was pronounced dead. Emil had heart probelems for a number of years before his death. He suffered from arterioscleratic heart disease. Following funeral services at the Paramount Mortuary Chapel on Sept 29, 1965, conducted by Rev. George F. Cain, he was buried in the Angeles Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery in Compton, Los Angeles County, California. He is buried with his second wife Cordelia.

He was survived by his wife Cordelia, son Robert L Beig, daughter Darlene Beig Aldredge; brothers William and Walter Beig, sisters Elaine, Anna, Clara, Margaret and Katherine; and step daughters Elaine and Glenna Clyse. Services were held at Paramaount Moruary Chapel. The Paramount Mortuary was in charge of arrangement.

Funeral services for Mrs Emil Beig, 58, of Maywood, LA County, Califormia were held Monday afternoon at Trinity Luthern church in Hartington, Cedar County Nebraska. Rev Robert Mattheis officiated.
Mrs Beig, a former Hartington resident, died May 1 of cancer at General Hospital in Los Angeles, California. She had been ill for two years.
Burial was in the Hartington cemetery under the direction of the Smith-Wintz Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Louis Riibe, Norman Morten, Charles Swan, Phil Connelly, and Deward Erickson.
Mrs Beig is survived by her husband; one son, Robert L Beig of Hartington, a daughter, Mrs Carl (Darlene) Aldrege of Maywood; four sisters, Mrs Kenneth Betts and Mrs George Walton of Yankton; Mrs John Anderson and Mrs Charles Giles of Los Angeles; and five brothers, Frank, Walter, William, Milton and Chester Peterson of Los Angeles.
Two brothers, Fred and Harold preceded her in death.
