She retired in 1984 after 16 years as a librarian for the Pleasant Valley School District serving Cody and Bridgeview Elementary schools. Kathryn K. Kingsbury was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Marshalltown, to Leonard and Helen Cooper Kingsbury. She married James F. Beeks Sept. 11, 1949, in Marshalltown. She was a member of the Audubon Society and a troop leader with the Girl Scouts in Pleasant Valley. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening and reading. Memorials may be made to the library at Cody Elementary School, LeClaire. Survivors include her husband; daughters and son-in-laws, Mary and Tim Van Horn, Greeneville, Tenn., and Claudia and Stosh Anderson, Kodiak, Alaska; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Carol Beeks, LeClaire; her father, Leonard Kingsbury, Marshalltown; five grandchildren; and a brother, Alvin Kingsbury, Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her mother and a grandson in infancy.
