Harrison Rutledge Dalby, son of Israel and Eliza Ogden Dalby, was born June 10, 1855, in Macoupin County, and died Friday, October 25, 1946, at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 15 days. He was the youngest child of a family of ten, all having preceded him in death.
He was married to Emma Hardman October 18, 1883. He farmed for many years in the Appalonia community. His wife died April 16, 1914. He spent the last years of his life in Waverly.
Mr. Dalby was a life long member of the Methodist church, a fifty year member of the Knights of Pythias lodge, and also a member of the Masonic lodge and Eastern Star chapter.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lillie D. Carr, with whom he had made his home; also three grandchildren, Mrs. Francis C. Potts of Loami, Eleanor and Howard Carr of Waverly, and a number of nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held at the Neece Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Francis E. Smith, of Mechanicsburg.
Interment was in East cemetery.
