Kathy was born November 3, 1948 in Winchester County, Tennessee to Robert and Dorthy Tate Hinshaw. She married Reyes Barrera, Sr. at Lake County, Indiana in 1973 where they resided until moving to Hamlin in 1995. Kathy was a homemaker and she enjoyed reading. She especially liked fishing and caught a Texas and United States record crappie, but never got recognition for it because her husband ate it before it could be officially recorded. This was something she would remind Reyes of often. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, one brother Benny Hinshaw, motherinlaw and fatherinlaw Antonio and Rita Barrera, and one sisterinlaw Debbie Hinshaw.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Reyes Barrera of Hamlin nine sons and four daughtersinlaw, Reyes Barrera, Jr., Danny Barrera, Valentino Barrera, James C. and Christine Hinshaw, Louie and Stacy Barrera, Tony Barrera, Jason and Victoria Steele, Elliott Barrera, and Kevin and Ada Cox five daughters and three sonsinlaw, Susie and Juan Rios, Rita Barrera, Alethea and Alan Howell, Mary Barrera, and Treena Barrera and her mate Russell Willis thirty two grandchildren two greatgrandchildren two brothers and a sisterinlaw, George Hinshaw, and Danny and Patty Hinshaw and one sister and brotherinlaw, Betty and Paul Cox.
