"U.S. Army SPC Lauro Garcia De Leon, III, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2004 while defending his country in Operation Iraqi Freedom at the age of 20. He is survived by his mother, Grace Lopez and husband Jimmy; father, Lauro S. De Leon, Jr. and wife Virginia; brother and sister, Ruben and Jo Ann Garcia; brothers and sisters, Jimmy Lopez, Jr., Nina Ruiz, Lillie Villanueva, Linda Lopez, Carrie De Leon and Christopher De Leon; maternal grandfather, Jose C. Garcia; paternal grandparents, Lauro and Aurora S. De Leon, Sr.; grandmother, Lillie B. Lopez; uncles, Joe R., Roger R., George R. and Joseph Garcia; aunts, Diane Santana, Alma Lenhart and Stephanie, Monica and Margie De Leon; numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Guadalupe R. Garcia, and grandfather, Benito X. Lopez. Specialist De Leon was a 2003 graduate of Floresville High School and worked as a truck driver. He was assigned to 217th Transportation Company, U.S. Army Reserves, in San Antonio, TX and was attached to 644th Transportation Company in Beaumont, TX, for Operation Iraqi Freedom"
