A native of Fannin County, GA, and a resident of McMinn County for most of her life, she was a daughter of the late William Earl and Sarah Azalee Newberry Coffee. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her first husband, Ben Hooper Coe; her second husband, Gus H. Slack; three sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Glenda and Leo Fugate of Riceville, and Carolyn Bryson of Cartersville, GA; six grandchildren, Rhonda Bryson of Cartersville, GA, Heather Bryson of Knoxville, Anthony Bryson of Nashville, Tonya Nash of Cleveland, and Andrew Fugate and Martha Miller, both of Riceville; three great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, David Johnston, Danny Johnston and Janice Jackson, all of Houston, TX; eight step-great-grandchildren; and one special niece, Martha Jean Dunn of Copperhill.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Redman officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Polk County.
Pallbearers will be James Brown, Conway Brown, Andy Fugate, Aaron Nash, Marcus Miller and Danny Pilkey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
