Sunday the burial of Esom Groover occurred at Elwood, he having died at Elwood Friday at the age of eighty years. The funeral services were conducted at the Christian church in that city, Rev. Robert Sellers, being in charge. Mr Groover as at one time a resident of Tipton county, having resided in the east part. Of late years he had been living in Elwood.
The deceased was a native of Rush county, being born there March 16, 1833. In 1857 he was married to Nancy Harbit and they located on a farm near Cedar Corner where they lived until 21 years ago when they went to Elwood and moved into the home on North D Street where the death occurred Friday morning. The Groover farm is one of the best in Tipton county and by reason of hard work and the careful saving and investment of his money, the deceased succeeded in accumulating a larger estate, the exact value of which is not stated.
Mr and Mrs Groover had celebrated fifty-four wedding aniversaries and their home life had always been a happy and beautiful one. To the union was born the following children: Mrs Elizabeth Cole, James W. Groover, Frances M. Groover, Lewis Jasper Groover, Ellie May Judy, Christopher C. Groover, Elmer Groover, Everet Groover, and one child who died in infancy.
