YORKTOWN--Alice D. Childs, 70, R.R. 1, died early Thursday in Ball Hospital following an extended illness. She was born near Farmland and moved with her husband to Yorktown in 1939. She assisted him with the management of Childs & Sons Hardware here for 20 years, retiring in 1968.
Survivors include her husband, Enoch S. Childs; one son, Jay K. Childs, Muncie; one daughter, Mrs. Tim (Sheila) Sheward, Muncie; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Cougill, Modoc; one brother, Lester Potter, Winchester; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Richman Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Vise officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today or prior to services Saturday.
