Karen Denise (Gillis) Burgess was born August 9, 1958 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Charles and Alma (Conaway) Gillis. She passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the age of 53 years, 11 months and 5 days.
Karen graduated from Langston University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. She worked as a C.P.A. Auditor for Verizon. She was married to Coyle Farmer and has made Sapulpa her home for the last twenty-five years. She enjoyed reading and sports, especially football. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen is survived by her husband, Coyle Farmer of Sapulpa; five sons, Jeffrey Craig and wife, Crystal, of Owasso, Ricky Burgess of Owasso, Levi Farmer and wife, Brittany of Broken Arrow, Chris Burgess and wife, Andrea of Beggs, and John Burgess and wife, Crystal of Tulsa; two brothers, Rick Gillis and wife, Jeannie of Bristow and Curtis Gillis and wife, Sharon of Bristow; and one sister, Vicki Henderson and husband, Glenn of Bristow; and two grandchildren, Grayson Craig and Gabriel Farmer. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services are 10:00 am Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Foundation Church, 7785 Hwy 97 South, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma with Reverend Mike Lehew officiating. Interment will follow in Bristow City Cemetery.
