James F. Brooke, 77, of West Lafayette, died 3:20 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 1959, in his home. Born at Battle Ground, he had lived in the Lafayette area for 16 years. He was married to Selma L. Niemforth in 1918. Mr. Brooke was a maintenance worker at Purdue University for 16 years before his retirement 2 1/2 years ago. Before that he was a farmer. He was a member of the EUB Church at Battle Ground. Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Harold Traviolia of rural Lafayette; a son, Burley Brooke of Marengo, IL; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Dawkins of rural Lafayette, and Mrs. Jacob Johnson of North Judson; and eight grandchildren. Service Feb. 21 at Soller-Baker funeral home, Rev. Ralph Cunningham officiating; burial at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
