Obituary for Jacob Valentine from the Circleville Democrat & Watchman of February, 1912:
"VALENTINE. Jacob Valentine, son of Joshua and Martha (Drum) Valentine, was born in this county, in 1832, and died in Washington Township, at 9 o'clock Saturday night, February 10, of gangrene, after an illness extending over two years, two months, of which he was bedfast. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Mary Gazelle(sic), and three children, viz: John Valentine, Mrs. Charles Hery and Miss Cora Valentine. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. George Lathouse, of East Ringgold. The funeral was held at the railroad church, at 2 o'clock, Monday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Stofer and Rev. Tovey, of Stoutsville. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church."
