Born in Lancaster, PA, graduated Lancaster HS in 1923. About 1932, Lil graduated from Camden Commercial College in New Jersey. About 1942, she was in the Women's Army Corps. serving in WWII. She met Paul Hessing and they were married in 1946 in N.J. Some years after that they moved to Burlington, Iowa where she resided until her death in 1995. She had one child Henry Vollmer, born in PA about 1925.
