Mary Ann Freeze was born in Mechanicstown (now Thurmont), Frederick County, Maryland, on October 23, 1839. She was the eldest surviving child of Michael and Susanna Wetzel Freeze. She married Josiah Damuth/Demuth in Thurmont, Frederick County, Maryland, on December 20, 1859. They were the parents of 9 children: Lela Katherine, Rossilia Virginia, Charles Grayson, William H., Rosa Key, Harvey Winton, Walter, Bertha May and Mabel Alice Demuth. Mary Ann and Josiah migrated to Monroeville, Huron County, Ohio, around 1874, and later settled in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, where they lived the remainder of their lives. She passed away there on July 3, 1919, and was buried on the 5th in Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
