Pete S. Collette, 85, of Rosenberg, passed away July 26, 2009 in Katy.
Services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George Street in Rosenberg with the Rev. William D. Bartniski officiating. A graveside service is set for 3 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.

Pete was born May 29, 1924 in Bryan to Vincenzo "Charlie" Collette and Benedetta Scardino Collette. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Pete was employed with Southwestern Bell for 35 years, retiring in 1981.

He then began his homebuilding career with Kickerillo Homebuilders. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he was on the church council, a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus as well as a "Grandpal" at Holy Rosary Catholic School.

He was past president of Unico and of the church council at St. John Vianney. Lovingly called "PawPaw" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Pete loved being with his family, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed traveling.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo "Charlie"and Benedetta Collette; siblings, Lucy Collette Croce, Joe Collette, Mary Collette Neale, Charles Collette and John Collette.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Gay Gustafson Collette; daughter, Veda Haase and husband, Richard; son, Charles Collette; step children, Cary Ostera and wife, Wendy, Guilia Vanderlaan and husband, Ron, Vincent Ostera and wife, Vangie; grandchildren, Kent Schrock and wife, Kim, Rachel Rankin and husband, Todd, Jonathan Schrock, Ami Bradley and husband, Ford, Clay Vanderlaan, Meaghan, Maddison, Matthew, Will, Vance and Chance Ostera; great-grandchildren, Brylin, Audrianna, Nash, London, Beau and Elle; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a multitude of friends.
