GILBERTVILLE - Eustace E. Avery, age 86, formerly of 357 Main St., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Brookhaven Rest Home in West Brookfield. He was born in Hubbardston on March 4, 1926, son of the late Ezra and Delia (Armstrong) Avery. He graduated from Petersham High School, and was employed as a mechanic for the Metropolitan Water Commission for many years. Eustace was a W.W.II, U.S. Army veteran serving with Company C 124th Infantry in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign. He was a former member of the Gilbertville Golden Agers. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley (Douglas) Avery; his nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law, Florence Avery of Barre. Eustace was predeceased by his brothers, Amosa, Joseph and Everette, and his sisters, Pauline Franusiak and Alberta McCann. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:30 AM in the Quabbin Park Cemetery in Ware. Fr. Edward Fitzgerald will preside. There are no calling hours. Cebula Funeral Home of Ware, has been entrusted with his final arrangements.
