According to the Indiana State Library Genealogy Database: Marriages through 1850, Robert "Galaspy" married Nancy Montgomery in Clark Co, IN on October 12, 1812.
The seven children of Robert and Nancy were William, Elizabeth, Sarah, James, Robert Jr., Nancy, and Thomas."

The following is taken from "Composite History of Jackson County, Indiana: 1816 – 1988, Turner Publishing, p.262."
"The earliest known member of the Montgomery family was William Montgomery (1754-1829) born in Virginia of Scottish descent. He married Mary Johnson (1761-1847). They lived in Washington Co, PA, moving to Clark County, IN in 1807 or 1808. They are both buried in the Fouts-Robison Cemetery near New Washington, Clark Co, IN. William and Mary had 13 Children: . . .Nancy born 1795, died 1849, married Robert Gillaspy, and they had seven children."

"Census records are generally more reliable than county histories, which were written long after William's death. William had two sons who lived until 1880. His son James states in the 1880 census of Scott County Indiana that his father was born in Maryland. In the 1880 Mortality Index for Pike County Illinois, it again states that David's father was born in Maryland. "
