Mrs. Virgie Jane Blankenship, 81, of Ripley, died Tuesday in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley after a brief illness. Born in Mason County, she was a daughter of the late Mason and Ollie Barnett Stewart. She was a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church at Rockcastle. Survivors include six sons, Travis, Layton, Clarence and Otis Blankenship, all of Ripley, Dayton Blankenship of Akron, Ohio, Clayton Blankenship of Tallmadge, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Lola Cain and Mrs. Corda Williams, both of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Eunice King of New Haven, Mrs. Thelma Flowers of Rootstown, Ohio; two brothers, Oscar Stewart of Florida, and Hobert Stewart of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Belle Hill of Leon and Mrs. Lillian Knapp of Marion, Ohio; 29 grandchildren and 49 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. Blankenship. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Parsons Funeral Home at Ripley. The Rev. Armour Sayre will officiate with burial to be in the Barnett Cemetery at Rockcastle. Friends may call at the funeral home.
