Caldwell News-Chronicle - Vol 25, No 49, Ed 1 - Friday April 28, 1905
Howell C. Sanders, aged 28 years, who has been in the employ of the Katy railroad for three years past, was killed in a wreck near Bruceville, on that road, last Thursday morning, the engine on which he was firing colliding with a freight which had not quite cleared the main line when switching.
Mr. Sanders was born and raised in Burleson County, being a son of Mr. & Mrs. Sanders, of Hooker's Prairie, and a brother of Mrs. J.W. Harvey, of Caldwell. He was an industrious and worthy young man, and had many friends over the county.
He was buried at Smithville Sunday morning , and a large crowd of friends and associates attended his funeral, attesting the esteem in which he was held by his fellow workmen there. He leaves two children, who have been with their relatives here for some time.
