Phillip Barnhart was born at the family home near Sunnyside, the son of Guy and Farn Barnhart, early settlers n the Emerald District. His mother passed away when he was very young and he, with his father, moved to a farm near Grandview where he grew up and attended Grandview schools. he farmed with his father for many years. In April of 1943, Miss Ester Vollmer and Phillip were married at Toppenish and together they farmed near Grandview.
Four sons Neal, Charles, Bob, and Mike. Three daughters Sandra, Kathleen, and Mary Lou.
