She was blessed to be married Melvin Goforth and the had three children: Linda, Ronnie, and Susan.

Jean had a brother, Clarence B Redden Jr., a stepbrother, Charlie Fite, and three stepsisters; Jane, Jean, and Doris.

Jean R. Goforth, 77, of Millington, retired claims adjuster from the IRS, died Thursday at Methodist Healthcare - North. Services will be at 3 pm Saturday at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens.

She was a member of te Decatur Trinity Christian Church Edna Burk Sunday School Church, chairman of the church World Outreach Department Department, charter member of the former Frayser Christian Church, where she was deacon emeritus, regional board member of the Christian Church in Tennessee and Tennessee CWF Cabinet, Disciple of the Year, chairman of Northside Christian Community Center board and worker for MIFA and Shoes for Children.

Mrs. Goforth, the wife of Melvin Goforth, also leaves two daughters, Susan Brown of Millington and Lynda Ford of Barlett; a son, Ron Goforth of Ripley, Tenn.; three stepsisters, Jane Williams and Jean Sutton, both of Memphis, and Doris Crain of phoenix; a stepbrother, Charlie Fite of Olive Branch, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family requests that memorials be sent to Decatur Trinity Christian Church.
