Funeral for Gary Burgess, 40, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Comanche Nation Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Videll Yackeschi officiating.

Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Gary passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, in Oklahoma City.

Prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

He was born Feb. 20, 1972, in Lawton, to Teddy Burgess and Ramona Pahcheka. He was a member of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma and Mt. Scott Comanche Methodist Church. He was raised at Elgin and graduated from Elgin High School in 1990. He worked at Lawton Indian Hospital for 10 years and at Clinton Indian Hospital three years.

He is survived by his son, Brandon Burgess, of Bethany; parents: Teddy Burgess Sr., of Lawton; and Ramona Pahcheka and husband, Paul, of Cache; brother, Teddy Burgess Jr., of Lawton; his companion, Mary Anquoe, of Lawton; nephew, Teddy Burgess III; and niece, Aubry Burgess.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Angel Burgess; maternal grandparents, Melvin and Yvonne Wahahrockah; and paternal grandparents, Earl and Daisy Burgess.

Pallbearers will be Rickard Kadayso, Michah Menthorn, Kenny Burgess, Koma Battisse, Phillip Anquoe, Brad Hill and Mike Lorentz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tre Burgess, Miguel Rivera, Todd Burgess, Dee Tanequodle and Wayne Weahkee.
