Wayne Robert Hughes, 81, of Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Columbus, the son of the late Wayne Conwell and Fannie Ellen Harbage Hughes. On March 13, 1945, Wayne was united in marriage to Eileen Marie Myers Hughes, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Terry Wayne Hughes, and wife, Lynne of Brockway, Pa., and Timothy Robert Hughes, and wife, Linda of Lake Forest, Calif.; a daughter, Sharon Marie Crysler, and husband, William of Mentor, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Craig, Cory, Ryan and Lindsay Hughes, and Amanda, Megan, Brad and Matthew Crysler; and three great-grandchildren.
Wayne was a personnel officer at Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, Ohio, and a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Waverly.
Wayne's parents and a brother, Thomas James Hughes, preceded him in death.
Interment will be in Sunset Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio, at noon Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, with the Rev. Vernagaye Sullivan officiating.
