James O'Donnell
James "Harlin" O'Donnell, 83, of Everett, died Thursday, June 6, 1985 at Providence Hospital.
He was born in 1901 in Virginia, the son of Andrew W. and India Morgan Ascue. His father was shot and killed when Harlin was just a toddler, and his mother's second husband, John M. O'Donnell moved the family to Nebraska where he grew up on the family farm outside of Bloomfield. He married Myrtle McClain, the school teacher in Bloomfield, November 14, 1925, just across the state line in Yankton, South Dakota.
The couple lived in Nebraska and Missouri before moving to Everett in 1951. Mr. O'Donnell worked at Everett Plywood and Door until he retired.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle in 1978, a son, James O'Donnell, in 1971; a granddaughter, Kathy [Cathy] Verhoeff in 1970; and a grandson, James O'Donnell, in 1982.
Funeral Services were held Monday, June 19, 1985 in Everett. The Rev. Willard Buckner officiated. Burial followed at Grandview Cemetery, Anacortes.
Memorials are suggested to the Kathy Verhoeff Scholarship Fund, care of First Baptist Church, Anacortes, 98221; or First Interstate Bank of Anacortes.
