MRS. BENJAMIN MOFFITT IS DEAD
Remains Brought Here Yesterday for Interment
Mrs. Benjamin Moffitt died Sunday morning at her home in Franklinville, Randolph county. Mrs. Moffitt was a sister of the late Maj. W. H. Bagley, and was for many years a resident of this city, where she was a consistent member of Edenton street church and a zealous worker in the Sunday school. She was an aunt of Mrs. Joseph Daniels of this city. She was about sixty years of age.
The remains arrived in this city yesterday afternoon about 4:30 over the Southern Railway. The body was accompanied here by her husband, Mr. Benjamin Moffitt, and neice, Miss Ethel Bagley of Washington, D. C., who, with her mother, Mrs. Adelaide Bagley, has been at the bedside of Mrs. Moffitt during her last illness.
The remains were taken, immediately after the arrival here, to the chapel in Oakwood Cemetery, where .the funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. F Smith, assisted by Dr. Eugene Daniel. During the service the choir sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and "Abide With Me," two favorite songs of Mrs. Moffitt.
The following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Messrs. R. T. Gray, A. A. Thompson. R. C. Strong. W. H. Hughes, John W. Harden, Col T. S. Kenan, Jos. G. Brown and Ed Pescud. Among those who came to attend the funeral were Prof. S. D. Bagley of Beaufort and Miss Cora Bagley, also of Beaufort and a sister of deceased, Miss Belle Worth Bagley and Miss Ethel Bagley of Washington. D. C. Mr. Henry Bagley of Portsmouth, and others.
Mr. W.H. Bagley and Miss Mary Bagley, of Jackson. N. C., did not accompany the remains but remained in Franklinville, where they had been summoned by Mrs. Moffitt's illness.
