Brandau -Paulus Brandau was born on the 20th of October 1847 in Königswald, Kur Hessen, Germany. He moved to America with his parents when he was 9 years old. The family settled near New Bremen, Cook County, Ill. Here he became acquainted with our church while still a boy and was moved to dedicate his heart and life to God. Since his conviction he has been a faithful, respected member of our church. In 1873 he was married to Carolina Felten. The Lord gave them 11 children, four of whom preceded their father into eternity. For 43 years he went in and out as a member of the First Church and served the church faithfully and conscientiously in many offices. Eight years ago, he went first to Joliet, then to Chicago, where he spent the rest of his life. He was only ill for two days, his death came quite unexpectedly on April 29, 1922. His last words were: "Lord, take me!" He leaves behind his grieving widow and 7 children, as well as many relatives and friends. Dr. J.A. Mulfinger, Rev. Robt. Murray, Rev. V Zeun attended the service. Frankfort, IL Otto C. Frey.
