Arthur was born in Hudson, SD on September 28, 1882, the son of Martin and Caroline Amundson. Arthur was a member of the Fire Department and the local band and was in partnership with Torkel Torkelson in the grocery and merchandise store. In addition he was assesor for Settlers Township, served on the election board, was a school director and measured land for the farm program based in Orange City, Iowa. Arthur was and active member of the Masonic Lodge and both he and Clara were active members of the Lutheran Church. In 1944 they bought their farm in Norway Township and moved there March 1, 1945. Arthur had a sever stroke and several light ones and passed away April 1, 1958 at the age of 75. Arthur and Clara had three children: Merle, Lucille and Shirley.
