John graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in June of 1963, and at the age of seventeen he joined the United States Navy. John was stationed in Cleveland, Ohio where he served until 1966. After a brief stay in San Francisco, John was sent to join the Naval forces on the U.S.S Repose, a hospital ship, in Da Nang, Viet Nam. He served on the U.S.S. Repose as a corpsman in the pharmacy until December of 1967. Upon his return to the United States he was stationed in Quantico, Virginia at the Marine Corps Base.
John attended Bowling Green State University. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in 1972, and then entered the pharmaceutical field. John worked with companies such as Ayerst, McNeil, and Janssen as a pharmecutical representative until the day he died.
In March of 1968 he married Naomi D. of Cleveland, Ohio, and with her had four children.
In 1983 he married Linda B. of New Jersey and with her had four more children.
John was preceded in death by his daughter, Jonelle Marie, and brother Richard Allen. John also preceded his granddaughter in death (Rebekah Danielle Jan 2006-April 2006).
John is survived by both of his parents, his wife, seven children, seven siblings, twelve grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In late 2002, John was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He passed away nine months after being diagnosed. He was 57 years old.
