Epps, Everett, 87, of Ashland passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 26, 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Isbell Epps, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. He left behind son Floyd Epps and wife Karen of Mechanicsville; son Ronnie Epps and wife Betty of Dunnsville; daughter Sheila Epps Davis and husband Keith of Ruther Glen; and sister Thelma Bailey and sister Eula Hicks and husband Roy, all of Rogersville, TN. His 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren knew him as "Gumdaddy". He also left behind a devoted companion, Ruth Beckner of Ruther Glen. He was co-owner of Epps Brothers Lumber for many years and then continued in the logging business as a truck driver until his "retirement". Everett always had a joke to tell. His wit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. He had a grin and smile that made anyone around him smile. The family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy, Ashland, VA from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. The service to be held in the chapel on Wednesday, May 30 at 11:00am with interment to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bon Secours Hospice.
